The countdown to the FIT XXth World Congress in August 2014 has begun! Our hosts, the German association of translators and interpreters BDÜ (Bundesverbandes der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer e.V.) have been working hard behind the scenes over the past 12 months and we are pleased to share the fruit of that work with you: the conference website at www.fit2014.org is now online, the first call for papers has been issued and a website banner and e-mail signature have been prepared. These are all contained in the promo pack that you can download in English, French and/or German from the website download centre.

Dear colleagues living in areas visited yet again by natural disasters, you are in my thoughts. On behalf of all of us in the AUSIT National Council I wish you strength. Please do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything I could do to assist.

Our AUSIT community is a formidable resource ready to stand by you. Last time we organised a collection of donations but it turned out most of the items were not needed. This time I suggest that AUSIT members wanting to offer help do so by donating to Red Cross or any other mainstream body.

President AUSIT
