The latest issue of the Polish-Australian cultural magazine "Kurier Zachodni" prints an interview with Dr Nowicki, who made a presentation at our Power to the Profession Conference in Melbourne. The article deals with the modern working conditions in Poland. These days the criteria to become a "sworn" T/I are: Masters degree in LOTE, or any masters degree with postgraduate studies in T/I, AND passing a T/I exam. The interview is illustrated with a photo of the guest with a group of Polish colleagues in Victoria.

The interview was conducted as the outcome of AUSIT (Vic/Tas Branch)/Australian Polish Community Services (Melbourne)/Polish Society of Court, Legal and Economic Translators and Interpreters (Poland) joint pilot project. Eva Hussain also did an interview for the SBS radio with Dr Nowicki on the topic of the new sworn translator legislation in Poland and status of interpreters and translators in both countries.

This language-specific forum was an opportunity for practicing and prospective interpreters and translators in the Polish language to get together for the first time in Melbourne, if not Australia. Dr Nowicki did a presentation on the new legislation in Poland and a training video developed by our sister organisation in Poland was also shown.
